The original box has 2 cables coming in through two different holes in the upper half of the box. The cable coming through the hole on the left has a black, a white, and a bare ground.
The junction box I had to work with looks like the one in the photo below. It came with 2 screws sticking out on the bottom side. So, I could not attach them to the side of a joist. I decided to attach them to the top side since those screws were spaced far enough apart for them to straddle the narrow side of a joist.
I flipped all circuit breakers off and on, but still no power to the dishwasher. I just had the panel replaced last year, so I don't think it is a prolbem with the box, nor breakers.
